Headlight Refurbishment
There are a couple of reasons why having cloudy/degraded headlamps can be dangerous:
- Firstly severely affected headlamps can drastically reduce the output of your headlamp bulbs and affect the beam pattern omitted. So not only can this reduce the coverage of the light on the road and surrounding area in front of your vehicle; it can be a reason for the car to fail an MOT.
- Secondly reduced headlamp output will make it harder for other vehicles to see you when driving at night and this can also be the same in foggy & misty conditions.
The main cause of this is down to Ultraviolet light that oxidizes the outer surface of the polycarbonate headlamp lenses.
Also general weathering and chemicals from road pollution which contaminates the outer surface of the acrylic lights.
Rather than replacing the headlights, which can work out to be pretty costly, they can be refurbished at a fraction of the price.
My refurbishment process is done without removing the headlights as the majority of the degrading is on the outer surface.
The average costs to refurbish headlights varies from company to company and can be anything up to £300.00 for both headlights.

Currently due to other work commitments I can only carry out refurbishments at weekends between 09:00-16:00 and selected mid-week evenings in the Spring/Summer months between 18:00-20:00. Also the temperature needs to be 6°C and above to apply the final protection coating and cannot be done if it's raining).

Refurbishment Process
So what do you get from Punchy's Lamp Revamp's headlight refurbishment process?
Every headlight is different so I will evaluate each one individually and carry out the appropriate process to get your lights looking as best and as clear as possible.
Someone once said to me "Oh, so you polish headlights" to which I replied that my refurbishment procedure is far more than just 'polishing headlights'.
I carry out a various stage Wet & Dry sanding procedure (up to 6 stages), which removes the UV damaged outer surface of the headlights, along with the removal of some minor scratches. I then apply a cutting compound and a polishing layer to give the lights clarity. Then, the final stage is the application of a UV protection layer.

2004 Ford Mondeo
This Ford Mondeo had apparently had the headlights refurbished by a garage according to this customer !!!!
Well I’m afraid I think that they pulled a fast one there.
The customer was not confident that anything could be done with them, despite my confidence that they could be sorted.
Punchy’s Lamp Revamp carried out their full headlight refurbishment process and it’s obvious that the results are ‘clear to see’.
